A Richland man is facing a harassment charge after allegedly threatening a worker at the Richland Area Child Care on March 26th.
Jacob Brown, 29, of Richland, has been charged with Harassment in the Second Degree, a serious misdemeanor. A warrant was issued following the March 26th incident but was not served until May 12th.
According to court documents, Brown became upset over an incident at the Richland Area Child Care involving his child and confronted one of the child care workers about it. The victim told authorities that Brown threatened to physically harm her and another child involved in the incident if the situation was not resolved by the following day. The victim stated Brown was yelling and screaming at her during the confrontation and that she was emotionally upset and in fear that he would follow through on his threats.
When investigators spoke with Brown on April 15th, he denied threatening to harm the victim but admitted he told her she needed to do something about the situation or he would come back, according to court documents. Authorities determined his statements constituted harassment involving a threat to commit bodily injury.
Brown’s bond was set at $1,000 cash or surety. He has since posted a surety bond. His initial appearance is scheduled for May 25th. A no-contact order has been requested in the case.
