A Fairfield man is facing two felony charges following an early morning commercial burglary on the west side of Fairfield, according to a press release from Fairfield Police Department Interim Chief Joel Smith.
Myles Mitchell, 33, has been charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony.
Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of West Burlington Avenue at approximately 4:13 a.m. on Saturday, June 20th after a commercial burglary alarm was triggered. Upon arrival, officers discovered forced entry into the business. The suspect was no longer on scene when officers arrived.
During the preliminary investigation, officers were able to identify a suspect and a suspect vehicle believed to have left the scene. Officers with the Fairfield Police Department and deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office canvassed the area and located the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and items reported stolen from the business were found inside the vehicle, leading to Mitchell’s arrest.
Mitchell was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he was held on bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2nd.
