Veterans from Iowa and Missouri recently spent three days in Washington, D.C., honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans. The trip began on April 22 and concluded on April 25, 2026. Pictured are some of the 43 veterans who traveled to visit memorials in the nation’s capital.
Area veterans Deb Roe and Don Lewis were honored to serve as volunteer coordinators and chaperones for the trip through the Wake Foundation.
The journey was made possible through the support of the Wake Foundation, founded by Robert Wake, along with the Ottumwa Legacy Foundation.
For a more detailed account of the experience, tune in to “Veterans Corner” at 8:00 a.m. on May 7 on KBIZ 1240 AM.
