The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union have announced team sites and assignments for the 2026 Iowa High School Track and Field State Qualifying Meets, with competition set for Thursday, May 14th.
All state qualifying meets are coed, with field events beginning at 4:00 p.m. and track events beginning at 4:45 p.m. No more than 24 qualifiers will advance from any event to the 2026 Iowa High School State Track and Field Championships, scheduled for May 21-23 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Several area programs will host or compete at qualifying sites across the region. Here is where local teams are assigned:
Class 1A @ Sigourney
The Class 1A qualifying meet will be hosted at Sigourney and will feature Danville, Highland, Hillcrest Academy, Keota, New London, North Mahaska, Pekin, Sigourney, Twin Cedars, Van Buren County, WACO, Wapello, and Winfield-Mt. Union. Lone Tree will participate on the girls side only.
Class 2A @ Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont
The Class 2A qualifying meet will be hosted at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and will feature Albia, Cardinal, Centerville, Chariton, Davis County, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Grand View Christian, Interstate 35, PCM, Pella Christian, Pleasantville, and Regina Catholic.
Class 3A @ Mount Pleasant
The Class 3A qualifying meet at Mount Pleasant will feature Burlington, Clear Creek Amana, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mount Pleasant, Solon, and Washington.
Class 3A @ Pella
A second Class 3A qualifying meet will be held at Pella, featuring Bondurant-Farrar, Carlisle, Clarke, Grinnell, Knoxville, Newton, Oskaloosa, and Pella.
Class 4A @ Iowa City High
The Class 4A qualifying meet at Iowa City High will feature Cedar Rapids Washington, Iowa City High, Iowa City Liberty, Iowa City West, Johnston, Mason City, Ottumwa, and Cedar Rapids Prairie.
