The Oskaloosa Police Department is investigating a case involving a 15-year-old female who reportedly left her residence and began staying with an adult male.

According to authorities, officers received the report around 12:00 a.m. on March 17 after speaking with the juvenile’s mother. The mother initially believed her daughter was staying at her sister’s home to dog-sit. However, she later learned the juvenile had been spending time with a boyfriend over the past week.

The male was identified as Cameron Dreher, 20, of Rose Hill. The mother told investigators she had previously been under the impression he was 18 years old. After reviewing information on social media, she discovered a listed birthdate indicating he was 20.

According to the criminal complaint, the mother also informed authorities she believed her daughter and Dreher were involved in a relationship of an intimate nature.

Court documents state officers later made contact with Dreher. Investigators reported Dreher initially provided an incorrect date of birth. Officers also observed visible marks on Dreher’s neck, which he stated were caused during interactions with the juvenile.

Authorities say Dreher acknowledged staying overnight and sharing a bed with the juvenile, as well as engaging in physical affection, but denied further activity.

When interviewed, the juvenile told law enforcement she had been in a relationship with Dreher since November 2025. She reported the relationship became physical in early March and that Dreher had been staying with her since March 11.

Public records indicate Dreher is four years older than the juvenile.

Dreher is currently being held in the Mahaska County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 25. A no-contact order was issued on March 18.

Dreher is charged with third-degree sexual abuse involving a minor, where the defendant is four or more years older than the individual. The charge is classified as a Class C felony.
