Approximately 250 students from across Iowa, ranging from kindergarten to high school seniors, showcased their creativity and love for nature in the First Annual Iowa Songbird Art Contest. The event was a collaborative effort between the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Wildlife Forever.

Participants chose a bird from a featured list, researched its habitat and conservation needs, and then created an original hand-drawn artwork reflecting their findings. The contest encouraged students to learn about Iowa’s bird species while expressing their artistic talents.

Winning entries will be proudly displayed at the 2026 Iowa State Fair in the DNR building.
