The Fairfield Police Department announced that Police Chief David Thomas passed away unexpectedly, leaving the department and community in mourning.
In a statement released by the Fairfield Police Department, officials shared that officers will escort Chief Thomas in a procession from the Medical Examiner’s Office to Cranston’s Funeral Home in Fairfield. The procession will consist of squad cars and is intended to honor Chief Thomas’s service and leadership.
According to the department, the procession will enter Fairfield from Exit 212, travel north on Main Street, turn west onto Burlington Avenue, and then continue to Cranston’s Funeral Home.
Community members who wish to pay their respects are welcome to safely stand along the procession route. The department has asked that Cranston’s Funeral Home not be used for parking, as parking at that location will be reserved for first responders.
The Fairfield Police Department expressed appreciation for the continued support, thoughts, and prayers from the community during this difficult time.
