In a significant development in the case of Connie Ruddy, state investigators have conducted a search of her former home in northwest Iowa, reigniting interest in her disappearance, which dates back over 25 years.
Ruddy was last seen in February 1997, and although her partial remains were discovered in 1999, they were only recently identified through DNA testing. On October 9, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), along with local law enforcement, executed a search warrant at her residence located at 305 Burns Street in Ida Grove.
The operation involved criminalists from the DCI Lab, special agents from the DCI’s major crimes unit, and members of the Ida County Sheriff’s Office. This search was prompted by newly uncovered information and advancements in forensic technology, which led investigators to believe that further details could emerge from the items seized for analysis.
As the investigation remains active, there is hope that this renewed focus will shed light on the circumstances surrounding Ruddy’s long-unsolved case.
