Wendy Shea Bonnett was born on September 13, 1977, in Albia, Iowa. A woman of deep empathy, she was known for her wit, intelligence, and spirited nature. Wendy was a friend to all, a beacon of light that could turn sorrow into laughter and despair into hope. Her zest for life was infectious, and her strong Christian faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. As stated in the Bible, Proverbs 31:26, “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Wendy embodied this verse, showcasing kindness and wisdom in every interaction. Wendy had a natural knack for transforming simple ingredients into culinary masterpieces, earning her the title of ‘Community Chef.’ She loved the challenge of thrift shopping, finding joy in breathing new life into forgotten items. Gardening was another passion, her green thumb evident in the vibrant blooms and lush greens that filled her Knoxville, Iowa home. But what mattered most to Wendy was her family, friends, and her many pets over the years, especially her beloved dog, Baby-Girl. Despite being divorced, Wendy was never alone. Her home was a hub of activity, filled with the laughter of her cherished grandchildren, the camaraderie of friends, and the comforting presence of her pets.
Wendy is survived by her adoptive mother, Rhonda Bonnett; her siblings, Dwight Ka’uionalaniikaika (Penny) LeGros, Greg Bonnett, Shane Burk, Wes (April) Burk, Kelsey (Thomas Songer) Bonnett; her children, Austin (Haley) McGraw, Brenda Quigley, and Carli Bonnett; her grandchildren, Aubrey McGraw, Brayden McGraw, and Jaxon McGraw; and her nieces and nephews, Destiny Burk, Olivia Burk, Silas Burk, Tristan Burk, and Kinsley Songer. Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, George Burk and Brenda Bonnett; grandparents; many aunts; uncles; and her nephew, Kyle.
Despite these losses, and her own struggles, Wendy remained generous, always finding a way to help someone in need. Her spirit, resilience, and love for those around her will be remembered by all who knew her. As we mourn the loss of our beloved Wendy, we invite you to celebrate her life by sharing your memories and uploading photos to her memorial page.
