Roberta “Bobbi” Marie VanSkike, 73, of Ottumwa died at 1:51 a.m. July 2, 2025 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
She was born January 13, 1952 in Ottumwa to Roy and Ruth Thomas Gorsuch.
A resident of Ottumwa all her life, Roberta attended Ottumwa High School. She worked at JBS for over 20 years, retiring in 2017.
Roberta was a member of Heartland Boot Scooters and Fraternal Order of Eagles AERIE #114. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning and baking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Jonathan (Sherri) VanBlaricom of Ottumwa, Paula (Chris) Swope of Ottumwa, Tina VanSkike of Centerville and Thomas VanSkike of Hedrick; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Rick (Cindy) Gorsuch of Fort Wayne, IN; a long-time partner and best friend, Kenny Brownlee Sr. and family; and a beloved dog, Willow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Roy and Randy Gorsuch; 2 children; Tammy and Tony VanSkike; and a grandson, Taylor VanSkike.
Funeral service will 11 a.m. July 5th at Reece Funeral Home with Gary Brooks officiating. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Cremation will take place after the service. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
