Iowa Beach Update: Swimming Advisory

660

Here’s your latest update on local swimming conditions from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Currently, several beaches are not recommended for swimming due to high E. coli levels. These include Backbone Beach, Beeds Lake Beach, Black Hawk Beach, Blue Lake Beach, Bobwhite State Park, Lake Darling Beach, Nine Eagles Beach, North Twin Lake West Beach, Pine Lake South Beach, and Union Grove Beach. Most of these have been tested recently and have exceeded safe limits.

In addition, George Wyth Beach is closed due to flooding, but there are no health advisories for bacteria or algal toxins.

On a positive note, Emerson Bay Beach has seen improved water quality and is now safe for swimming again!
