Gregg Osborn, 69, of Univeristy Park, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at his home under Mahaska Health Hospice care.
Gregg Thomas Osborn, son of L.J. and Donna Jean (Allgood) Osborn, was born November 20, 1955, in Oskaloosa. He was a 1974 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. After graduation, he began working with his father in the family asphalt business, L.J. Osborn. The business diversified into several ventures through the years, including restaurants, construction, car washes, and parking lot striping. In recent years, Gregg has worked with his brother, Terry, in the lawn care business. He retired in 2022.
Gregg married Robin Trout in 1988 and two children were born to that union. They later divorced. Gregg married Holly Rae Moore, his long-time companion and friend of over 30 years, on October 26, 2024, on Vennard College Campus grounds. Gregg enjoyed time with his family and especially attending any of his grandchildren’s activities or sports. Watching the barges on the Mississippi River was one of his best ways to relax. He loved tinkering with his model train set and was an avid Hawkeye fan.
His family includes his wife, Holly of University Park; his children, Brittany (Wyatt) Anderson of Melcher-Dallas and children, Karson and Zayne; and Luke (Megan Evangelista) Osborn of Newton and children, Madilynn and Avery; brothers: Rex (Sue) Osborn of Savanna, GA, and Terry (Mary Ann) Osborn of Oskaloosa; and a sister, Deb Van Rees of Canfield, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa, and a brother-in-law, Doug Van Rees.
As was his wish, Gregg’s body has been cremated. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. at the University Park Community Center. His family requests you wear your Hawkeye apparel as a tribute to Gregg’s passion for his Hawks. Memorial contributions can be made to Mahaska Health Foundation for the Hospice Serenity House.
