Employees at Joe’s Italian Restaurant was preparing to open for business this morning around 10 am. When they smelled smoke in the building. One employee went outside to investigate and noticed heavy black smoke coming from a upstairs apartment.
E. Main Street is closed. No injuries. Firefighters and Ottumwa Police are still on the scene. More Details to follow as this story in still developing.
The apartment is a total Loss. Surrounding businesses will be closed for the remainder of the day due to smoke damage.
