Soybean harvest is nearing the end in Iowa.
USDA’s latest weekly crop progress report shows the pace has matched the five-year average of 90 percent complete.
Northwest Iowa farmer Paul Kassel tells Brownfield wet September weather did cause some discoloration.
“Had a concern on the soybean quality with purple seed stain. I’m still doing some soybeans myself and we’ve seen that stain go away. I don’t know if it was never there or whether it dissipated on it’s own, I really don’t know that answer.”
Kassel farms near Spencer.
Iowa’s corn harvest reached 66 percent by the end of last week, which trails the normal pace of 79 percent.
