The Welcome Home Soldier Monument in Albia has unveiled its newest addition, a tribute honoring women who have served in the United States military.

The new monument features three bronze figures representing women who served in different eras of military history: a World War I nurse, a World War II soldier, and a helicopter pilot who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

The monument recognizes the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of women who have served their country throughout history. It also highlights the many roles women have held in the military, from providing medical care to serving on the front lines and participating in modern military operations.

The addition serves as a reminder that women have played an important role in defending the nation and protecting the freedoms Americans enjoy today.

Organizers with the Welcome Home Soldier Monument invite the public to visit the site in Albia and pay tribute to the women represented by the monument, as well as all women who have worn the military uniform.

The monument honors their service, remembers their sacrifices, and recognizes the lasting legacy they leave for future generations.

Location: Welcome Home Soldier Monument, Albia, Iowa.
