Van Buren County Conservation is inviting veterans and their families to a free Veterans Fishing Day at the Lake Sugema North Boat Ramp on Friday, October 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., according to the organization.
The event is open to veterans of all experience levels — whether experienced anglers or first-time fishers. Free fishing gear rental and bait will be provided, though attendees are also welcome to bring their own gear. A free lunch sponsored by Serve Outdoors will be provided, featuring fried fish, potato salad, rolls, and dessert.

The Lake Sugema North Boat Ramp can be reached by heading south on Highway 1 and turning right at the Lacey-Keosauqua State Park sign. Follow Lacey Trail through the state park, continuing straight through the stop sign inside the park. After exiting the state park, continue straight through the stop sign at 240th and Lacey Trail.
