The Van Buren County Extension Office will host a community Bingo fundraiser Nov. 8 to raise money to send local 4-H youth to the 2027 Iowa State Fair, according to Van Buren County Extension.

The event begins at 2 p.m. at the Fair View Barn, located at 20493 Highway 1 in Keosauqua. Funds raised will cover the cost of a bus trip to the State Fair for Van Buren County 4-H members in grades 4 through 12. The trip is intended to provide an opportunity for youth who may not otherwise have the chance to attend.

Participants at the fair will have the opportunity to view educational presentations and working exhibits, explore the 4-H Exhibit Hall, watch livestock shows, experience the Giant Slide and enjoy other attractions.

Game packets are $20 each and include 10 Bingo games with three cards per game. Tickets may be pre-purchased at the Van Buren County Extension Office, open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a lunch break from noon to 12:45 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the door. Attendees may bring their own daubers or purchase them at the event. Complimentary popcorn will be provided by the Van Buren County Extension Council, with additional snacks and beverages available for purchase. Credit cards will not be accepted.

Several local 4-H clubs will also offer silent auction baskets, with proceeds benefiting causes selected by each club. Fox River 4-H’ers will offer a pet-themed basket benefiting the Heartland Humane Society. Jolly Trio will offer a breakfast-themed basket with proceeds supporting club activities. Sharp Shooters’ basket details are to be announced.

Any funds raised beyond what is needed for the State Fair trip will go toward other Van Buren County 4-H program expenses.
