President Donald Trump has canceled Sunday’s in-person rally in Dubuque and will speak at a “tele-rally” instead.
The Republican National Committee says Trump will reach Iowa voters in a telephone broadcast and speak in support of Ashley Hinson, who’s running for the U.S. Senate; Zach Lahn, who’s running for governor; and other Iowa Republicans. Trump’s schedule in the 72 hours before Election Day now includes tele-rallies in Iowa and 18 other states.
Trump was in Sioux City last week to focus on turn-out in the fourth congressional district, where nearly half of all registered voters are Republicans. Dubuque is in the second congressional district. Since 2007, two Democrats and two Republicans have represented the city in the U.S. House. Four candidates are on the ballot in Iowa’s second congressional district: Democrat Lindsay James, Libertarian Rick Stewart, independent Dave Bushaw and Republican Joe Mitchell, who appeared on stage with Trump at last week’s rally in Sioux City.
