Rain chances will increase across Iowa over the next couple of days, with widespread showers and thunderstorms expected before cooler air moves into the state later in the week.
Forecasters expect the next round of precipitation to move into Iowa Wednesday night and continue through Thursday. Rain chances could reach 80 to 95 percent across much of the state.
Many areas could receive between a quarter-inch and a half-inch of rain, with locally higher totals approaching or exceeding an inch possible, particularly across southern and eastern Iowa.
The additional rainfall could lead to localized flooding in areas that receive heavier amounts. Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and remain alert for changing weather conditions.
Cooler temperatures are expected to arrive toward the end of the week, bringing a noticeable change from the warmer conditions earlier in the week.
