Residents across Iowa will turn their clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 1, 2026, as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end.
At 2 a.m. Sunday, clocks will move back to 1 a.m., giving people an extra hour of sleep and bringing an earlier sunrise and sunset.
The time change is also a good opportunity to check smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms to make sure they are working properly. Residents are encouraged to replace batteries when needed and review their family’s emergency plans.
Drivers should also be aware that the earlier sunset will mean more time spent commuting in darkness. Motorists are encouraged to watch for pedestrians, cyclists and wildlife, especially during the evening hours.
Daylight Saving Time will return on Sunday, March 14, 2027, when clocks will move forward one hour.
