The Greater Jefferson County Foundation has announced its 2027 Scholarship Program, with more than 52 scholarships valued at over $140,000 available to graduating seniors from Fairfield High School and Pekin High School, according to a social media post from the foundation. Applications will open November 1st and close February 1st at 4:00 p.m. CST.
The online application will be available at gjcfscholarships.org. Ten additional applications can also be accessed through the FHS website at fairfieldsfuture.org. Presentations to the senior classes of both Fairfield and Pekin will be held in November to answer questions and explain the application process. One-on-one appointments with senior students are also available during the application period by calling or emailing the foundation.
The following scholarships are available for the 2027 program year:
Arc Special Needs — 1 at $1,000 — FHS or Pekin student going into Special Needs Education.
Bower Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student attending IHCC, Kirkwood, or SEICC studying CAD, metalworking, machine shop, or welding.
Sherry Champ Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student in the field of general or veterinary medicine.
Howard and Donna Clark Scholarship for Current or Past Graduates — 2 at $3,000 — FHS or Pekin student in the field of business, agriculture, or medicine.
Pete and Fern Crafton Memorial Scholarship for Current or Past Graduates — 6 at $2,500 — FHS open scholarship.
Edd and Darlene Felgar Memorial Scholarship — 3 at $3,000 — FHS or Pekin student in the field of health-related studies attending IHCC.
FHS Alumni — 1 at $1,000 — Open scholarship.
Jack and Edie Graby — 1 at $2,500 — FHS student in the field of agriculture intending to return to the southeast Iowa area.
Frank Ireland Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student studying computer science.
John Jackson Memorial Scholarship — 2 at $5,000 — FHS student who played in the FHS Band pursuing music-related studies.
Scott and Edith Jordan Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $5,000 — FHS open scholarship.
Jefferson County Pork Producers — 1 at $1,000 — FHS or Pekin student studying agriculture with a relative in pork production.
Kraus Family Scholarship — 1 at $5,000 — FHS student in the field of chemical engineering, novel writing, medicine, horticulture, conservation, business, or landscaping.
John and Deb Martin Scholarship — 4 at $1,500 — FHS or Pekin student based on GPA, trade school, financial need, or open criteria.
Medical Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student studying in the health field.
Nady Ag-Business Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS or Pekin student studying in an ag-business field.
Nady Music Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student in the field of music.
Nellie Neff Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student studying horticulture, biology, or physical education.
Overland Sheepskin Scholarship — 1 at $2,000 — FHS student studying fashion, textiles, merchandising, or entrepreneurship.
Ralph Perry Memorial Scholarship — 6 at $5,000 — FHS open scholarships based on need.
Grace Roberts Memorial Nursing Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student studying nursing.
Jane Ruby Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,500 — FHS student studying music education, fine arts education, art therapy, drama, or theater.
Hazel Samuelson Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student in the field of education.
Jack and Ruth Sellars — Jack: 2 at $2,500 for career and technical studies; Ruth: 1 at $5,000 open scholarship — FHS students.
Mark Shafer Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $5,000 — FHS student studying visual arts.
James and Marilyn Taylor Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS or Pekin student in the field of agriculture.
Karlena Thoma — 2 at $1,500 — FHS student in the field of mathematics.
Jeanne Thoma Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS open scholarship.
Van Tasell Medical Scholarship — 2 at $1,000 — FHS or Pekin student in the field of health-related studies.
Robert and Anna Wiseman Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student with financial need.
Mary Witkosky Memorial Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student in the field of mathematics.
Carl and Mary Zillman — 1 at $1,000 — FHS student studying conservation or wildlife management.
Jim “Lefty” Leyden Memorial Teachers Scholarship — 1 at $1,000 — Fairfield Community School District employee studying for their master’s degree.
