The Flood Watch has been canceled for much of central and southern Iowa, including Wapello County and the Ottumwa area.
The National Weather Service canceled the watch early Thursday morning, saying flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat today. The cancellation covers several counties across south central, southeast, southwest and west central Iowa.
While the flood threat has eased, motorists are reminded to continue watching for remaining road closures and areas that may still have standing water.
Meanwhile, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday for portions of central and southern Iowa, including Wapello County and Ottumwa.
Visibility may drop to less than one-half mile in some locations, creating hazardous driving conditions.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down, use their headlights and leave plenty of extra distance between vehicles. Conditions can change quickly, especially on rural roads and near waterways.
The latest advisory includes communities such as Ottumwa, Oskaloosa, Albia, Centerville, Bloomfield, Chariton, Pella, Knoxville, Creston and Winterset, among others.
