With Election Day approaching, Jefferson County voters will have an opportunity to meet local candidates and learn more about the issues that will appear on the upcoming ballot.
The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidate Forum on Tuesday, October 13, at the Fairfield Area Convention Center. The event is free and open to the public.
The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with a candidate meet and greet. Candidates who are on the ballot are invited to attend, giving voters a chance to introduce themselves, ask questions and have informal conversations with those seeking elected office.
The formal candidate forum will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Voters will hear from the two candidates running for Jefferson County Supervisor, as well as candidates for Iowa House District 87.
The Fairfield Community School District bond referendum will also be discussed. The district superintendent will provide information about the proposed bond issue and what voters can expect to see on the ballot.
The Chamber says the forum is intended to give residents an opportunity to hear directly from candidates and receive information about the upcoming ballot.
The event is being sponsored by Freeman Kevenides Law Firm.
Voters who want to review their ballot before Election Day can visit the Jefferson County Auditor’s Office election website for information on sample ballots, voting districts and polling locations.
