The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Manufacturer’s Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. The event recognizes and celebrates the vital role manufacturers play in Fairfield’s economy, workforce, and community.
This year’s featured speaker will be Paul Gormley, Project Manager with the Iowa State University Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS). Gormley will present “AI in Manufacturing,” providing a practical overview of how artificial intelligence is transforming the manufacturing industry.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how manufacturers approach everything from office and administrative work to engineering, operations, workforce development, and decision-making. Gormley’s presentation will explore where manufacturers are using AI today, emerging capabilities, and how companies can begin adopting AI in a useful and responsible way.
Gormley has worked with CIRAS for more than 25 years, helping hundreds of Iowa companies strengthen innovation, refine marketing strategies, and accelerate growth. His current work focuses on helping businesses understand and effectively leverage artificial intelligence through strategy sessions, hands-on workshops, project assistance, and coaching.
In addition, Mayor Connie Boyer will present an official proclamation naming October as Manufacturing Month in Fairfield, honoring the contributions of local manufacturers and their employees.

The luncheon will bring together business leaders, community partners, and public officials for an afternoon of recognition, learning, and connection. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from industry experts, celebrate local manufacturing, and connect with others invested in the strength of our local economy.
