Local bakers will have the chance to show off their sweetest creations while supporting a cause close to the heart of the community.
The Addington Angels Alzheimer’s Team is hosting Sweet Sensations, a baking competition and public tasting event on Saturday, August 29. The event will bring together local restaurants, bakeries, professional chefs and talented home bakers for a day of friendly competition and plenty of desserts.
Baking entries will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by judging from 1 to 1:30 p.m. The public tasting will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., giving attendees the opportunity to sample the entries for $10 per person, with unlimited samples.
The day will wrap up with a prize presentation at 4 p.m.
Prizes include a $100 gift card for first place, $75 for second place and $25 for third place, along with plenty of bragging rights.
Organizers say the competition is a chance for bakers to showcase their skills, gain local recognition and, most importantly, help support the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Addington Angels Alzheimer’s Team.
Whether it’s a favorite family recipe, a restaurant specialty or a brand-new creation, local bakers are encouraged to enter.
