An Ottumwa man was charged with a felony after authorities say he was part of a group that took part in public violent behavior earlier this month.
James Harwood, 28, was charged with participating in a riot, a Class D felony.
Police allege on August 9th at approximately 4:55 PM, Harwood and other people gathered at a location on Richmond Avenue in Ottumwa and engaged in violent behavior while in public. Court records say this group used unlawful force against another person and punched him.
A warrant for Harwood’s arrest was issued on August 25th and he was taken into custody the following day.
Harwood is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
