Ben Zehr of Keswick has taken second place in the beef category of the 62nd Annual Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Cookout Contest, held during the Iowa State Fair, according to a social media post from Keokuk County Farm Bureau.
Zehr received $200 provided by the Iowa Beef Industry Council for his second-place finish.
Iowa Farm Bureau President Brent Johnson praised the contest and the farmers it celebrates. “The Farm Bureau Cookout Contest is a fun way to bring people together around something Iowans know and love — a good, homegrown meal,” Johnson said. “It’s also a chance to celebrate the farmers who put food on our tables and take pride in doing it well. Every day, they work to earn consumers’ trust through responsible farming practices and a commitment to producing quality food.”
