Residents across portions of southeast Iowa should stay alert today as a Flood Watch remains in effect through early this evening.
Heavy rain that fell Tuesday evening has already saturated the ground, making the area more vulnerable to flooding. Additional rounds of rain are possible today, and if storms repeatedly move over the same locations, isolated flash flooding could develop.
Low-lying areas, small streams, creeks, and other flood-prone locations are the most likely places to experience flooding if heavy rainfall continues.
Drivers are urged to use caution and never attempt to drive through water covering a roadway. Just a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle off the road.
Residents are encouraged to monitor changing weather conditions and stay informed throughout the day.
