The global crop intelligence lead for a remote sensing and analytics company is mostly bullish on the U.S. corn crop.
Nick Ohrtman is with EarthDaily.
“The way I’d probably sum up the year, especially for the Corn Belt, is that the vast majority of it is off to a very good start and looking quite good. There are some areas obviously are not as good as others, but a lot of that is ‘getting to the average’ if you will.”
He tells Brownfield it probably won’t be a record-breaking crop.
“Now we’re starting to see obviously with the dryness that’s come through in some of these areas, some of that maybe top-end best you’ve ever seen it kind of crops are coming back a little bit towards the norm. But everything overall is still looking pretty good.”
Ohrtman says EarthDaily uses satellite imagery to assist agronomists and growers assess and manage crops.
