A Southeast Iowa man is facing three felony charges following an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation.
Dennis Jantzen, 46, of Mount Pleasant has been charged with three counts of Purchase or Possession of a Depiction of a Minor in a Sex Act, First Offense, each a Class D Felony.
According to court documents, the investigation began in October 2024 when Jantzen allegedly uploaded images through the social media platform X, one of which depicted a sexualized image involving young children. Those images were reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and later traced through a subpoena to a residence at the Chesapeake Apartments in Mount Pleasant.
Court documents also indicate that in August 2025, a group that produces online videos targeting suspected predators visited a Mount Pleasant business and confronted Jantzen after investigators had posed as a 14-year-old boy, during which he allegedly sent and requested explicit images.
A search warrant was served at Jantzen’s residence on July 1st, resulting in the seizure of multiple electronic devices including cell phones, laptops, SD cards, and USB drives.
A forensic examination of one of the seized phones revealed an account operating under the name “David Miller,” which investigators linked to a separate child exploitation investigation in which a suspect had not yet been identified. Following the arrest, four additional cyber tips from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were also connected to the case.
Jantzen has since posted a $9,000 cash only bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 10th.
