An early morning phone call has resulted in criminal charges against an Ottumwa man.
On July 4 at approximately 1:31 a.m., the Ottumwa Police Department investigated an alleged violation of a no-contact order.
According to a criminal complaint, Samuel Gillies, 42, of Ottumwa, violated a valid no-contact order by contacting the protected party by telephone.
Court documents state that Gillies acknowledged he was aware of the no-contact order and admitted to contacting the protected party despite the restrictions.
A no-contact order was reissued on July 4.
Gillies is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail. He has been charged with violation of a no-contact/protective order, a simple misdemeanor.
