The Keota Community School District is asking community members who have been circulating bond referendum petition sheets to return completed forms to the District Central Office by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9th, according to an update from the district.
Once petitions are returned, the administrative team will compile, verify, and tally the signatures before providing an update to the Board of Education on the level of community response. That information will also help determine how many additional signatures will be needed during the next phase of the petition drive, which is set to continue through mid-August. Additional petition sheets will remain available at the District Office for those who continue collecting signatures after the July 9th deadline.
The petition, if it gathers sufficient support, would place a proposed $6.4 million bond referendum on the November 3rd, 2026 ballot. As previously reported, signing the petition is not a vote in favor of the bond — it simply gives the community the opportunity to vote on the proposal in November.
