A drowning at the Coralville Aquatic Center Tuesday afternoon has claimed the life of one person, according to the Coralville Police Department.
Police say officers were dispatched to the aquatic center on 7th Street at approximately 4:10 p.m. after receiving a report of a possible drowning.
Lifeguards at the Coralville Aquatic Center and paramedics with Johnson County Ambulance Service immediately began lifesaving efforts. The victim was transported to University of Iowa Health Care but was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim, and no additional details have been made public.
The Coralville Police Department says the incident remains under investigation.
