Sean Robinson, 55, of Monroe, Iowa, died on June 24, 2026.
Sean was born on May 23, 1971, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Glen and Jacque Robinson. He graduated from Monroe High School as a proud Monroe Wildcat in 1989 and made Monroe his lifelong home. It was there that he built lasting friendships, stayed close to family, and created countless memories with those he loved.
If you knew Sean, you knew music. It was the soundtrack of his life. Whether he was listening to his favorite songs—sometimes with the volume turned up just a little too high—attending concerts, or creating music himself, music brought him joy and was a part of who he was.
More than anything, Sean was a devoted father. His greatest pride was his children, Jayden, Rylan, and Lillie. Although Jayden passed away as an infant, Sean honored his son’s memory for many years through the Jayden Robinson Memorial Golf Tournament. Sean never missed an opportunity to cheer on his children, faithfully attending football games, dance performances, school events, and every milestone they experienced. Being their dad was the role he cherished most.
Sean worked at 3M in Knoxville for over 32 years – just another testament to his quiet dedication to his family.
To many, Sean seemed quiet and reserved. But those fortunate enough to know him well knew someone entirely different—a witty, funny, dependable friend with a loyal heart and a subtle sense of humor.
Like many of us, Sean’s life was made up of many chapters. There were the younger years, driving through town with the music and speakers booming, and later the quieter years, when his focus shifted toward home, family, and creating a place of comfort. Sean was a gifted craftsman who took great pride in working with his hands. Through countless hours of hard work, he transformed his house into a home, a reflection of the care and dedication he poured into the people and places he loved.
Sean’s life also included struggles that were not always visible to others. His family hopes his story encourages kindness, compassion, and open conversations about mental health, reminding others that no one has to face life’s struggles alone.
Sean will be remembered for his love of music, his unwavering devotion to his children, his loyalty to family and friends, and the quiet way he showed up for the people who mattered most.
He is survived by his children, Rylan and Lillie; mom, Jacque; dad, Glen; sister, Missy (Sam) Stravers and half-sister Ashley Mecham; nieces, Stella and Iris Stravers; nephews, Hunter Knowles and Justin Mecham; uncle Randy (Pat) Robinson; cousin, Brian Robinson; and mom to Rylan and dear friend, LeAnn Robinson. Sean was preceded in death by his son Jayden Robinson; grandparents, Burton (Faye) Zerley, Kenneth (Carol) Robinson, and great grandmother Cassie Rickabaugh.
A Celebration of Sean’s Life will be held on Sunday, June 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m, with a memorial service beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Monroe American Legion Hall, 105 E Marion Street, Monroe, Iowa 50170.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Your Life Matters, P.O. Box 291 Knoxville, Iowa 50138, in honor of Sean’s memory and in support of mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
His music may have quieted, but the love he gave, the memories he created, and the lives he touched will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
