An Ottumwa man is facing a felony charge after authorities allege he failed to comply with Iowa’s sex offender registration requirements.

According to the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, deputies served an arrest warrant on Tony Williams, 47, of Ottumwa, at approximately 1:45 p.m. on June 14 in the 200 block of Clem Street.

Court records indicate Williams is a Tier II registered sex offender and is required by law to report any changes to his relevant information, as defined in Iowa Code 692A.101, to the Sheriff’s Office within five business days.

According to the criminal complaint, a compliance check revealed Williams owned and operated multiple vehicles that had not been registered with the Sheriff’s Office as required. Authorities also allege Williams failed to report that his brother had been living at his residence for the past five years.

Williams was taken into custody and is transported to the Wapello County Jail later released on a $5,000 cash-only bond.

He is charged with Sex Offender Registration Violation, Second or Subsequent Offense, a Class D felony.
