An Ottumwa man is facing a misdemeanor charge after allegedly attempting to flee from police officers serving an arrest warrant.

According to court records, officers with the Ottumwa Police Department responded to Wapello Park at approximately 6:25 p.m. on June 11 to serve a valid arrest warrant on 29-year-old Dillon Cook of Ottumwa.

The criminal complaint alleges that Cook knowingly resisted and obstructed officers in the performance of their duties by attempting to flee on foot after being given lawful commands to stop by a fully uniformed peace officer.

Cook was taken into custody and is being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $2,000 cash-only bond.

Cook is charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor.

A pretrial conference originally scheduled for June 24 has been continued to July 1.
