A section of the bike trail along South Emma Drive in Ottumwa is closed beginning Wednesday, June 10, due to construction work at the Walnut Lift Station.
The closure affects only the portion of the trail located east of Sandy Lane. City officials say the trail is expected to reopen by the end of the day on Friday, June 12, weather permitting.
Officials are also reminding residents that the bike trail is designated for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other non-motorized traffic only. Motorized vehicles are prohibited on both the trail and the levee, and violators may be subject to fines.
