The Keokuk County Hospital and Clinics Auxiliary has awarded five $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing careers in healthcare, according to a social media post from Keokuk County Hospital and Clinics.
The recipients were recognized as special guests at the Auxiliary’s Appreciation Day on June 3rd. The scholarship recipients are Katelynn Schultz of Pekin, entering an RN program; Cole Millikin of Pekin, entering a Physical Therapy program; Gavin Sieren of Keota, entering a Biomedical Engineering program; Charli Smothers of Sigourney, entering an RN program; and Kayla Renner of Sigourney, entering a Pre-Pharmacy program. Renner was unable to attend the event.
Each recipient shared insights into their chosen career paths and future goals at the event. The Auxiliary was pleased to learn that all five plan to remain in Iowa after completing their education.
This has been an active year for the Auxiliary on the fundraising front. Among this year’s highlights was their Almost New Purse Sale, which drew community interest and helped generate funding for the scholarship program. The Auxiliary also welcomed several new members this year and has been actively engaging with individuals throughout the Keokuk County community in support of students pursuing healthcare careers. The scholarships were also made possible through the generous support of KCHC staff and community members throughout the year.
