The City of Fairfield is inviting community members to meet the two finalists for the position of Police Chief at a public meet-and-greet event on Thursday, June 18th from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Community Center, located at 209 S. Court Street.

The search for a new chief began following the passing of former Police Chief David Thomas in January of this year. Thomas had served as chief since 2014. Joel Smith has served as interim chief since Thomas’s passing.

The event will give residents an opportunity to meet the candidates, ask questions, and learn more about the individuals being considered to lead the Fairfield Police Department. Evaluation cards will be available for attendees to share their feedback and impressions, and community input will be provided to the selection committee for consideration during the review process.

City Administrator Douglas Reinert is encouraging all interested residents to attend and participate in the process.
