Ottumwa police responded to a domestic disturbance in the city involving an alleged physical altercation between two individuals who share a long-term relationship and residence.
On April 29 at approximately 11:02 p.m., the Ottumwa Police Department responded to a domestic abuse assault in the 400 block of Burrhus Street.
According to a criminal complaint, Richard Mosher, 50, of Ottumwa, allegedly assaulted the victim by shoving a hamburger into her face without provocation. Court documents state the incident startled the victim and caused her pain.
Authorities report that Mosher and the victim have been in a relationship and living together for approximately 10 years. During the investigation, Mosher admitted to the act.
Mosher was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. He was later released after posting a $300 cash/surety bond. A no-contact order was issued on April 30.
He is charged with domestic abuse assault, first offense, a simple misdemeanor. A pretrial conference is scheduled for May 21.
