John David Van Veen, 74, of Oskaloosa, died at 6:18 p.m. May 20, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born March 24, 1952 in Ottumwa to Emmett and Oma M. Wood Van Veen.
A 1971 graduate of Ottumwa High School, John was a carpenter.
Surviving are his brothers, Bruce (Bridget) Van Veen and Brian Van Veen both of Ottumwa, Andy Van Veen of Sioux Falls, SD and Warren (Kindra) Van Veen of Carroll, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Emmett Van Veen Jr.
His body has been cremated and no services are planned.
