Wapello County Emergency Management Coordinator Tim Richmond is asking any resident impacted by the storm on Thursday to send proof of property damage.

A severe thunderstorm slammed Wapello County with heavy rain, high winds, and baseball-sized hail that reportedly damaged homes and vehicles.

Richmond says his office is working on a disaster declaration that may unlock some state aid programs but officials need to know how severe and widespread the damage is.

According to Richmond, affected residents should take pictures of any vehicles or homes damaged by Thursday’s storm and use this link to report the damage.

Richmond urges the public to send pictures as soon as possible with the threat of future storms looming.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening.
