Pekin, Van Buren County, and Keota were among the schools competing at the Pekin Invitational on Thursday, April 9th. No team scores were kept at the meet.
Van Buren County Results
Lincoln Bainbridge had another dominant day, winning the 400-meter dash in 49.46 and the 400-meter hurdles in 53.91, a time that qualifies for the Drake Relays. Kayden Simmons won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.21. Landry Loeffler swept the distance events, winning the 1,600-meter run in 4:53.35 and the 3,200-meter run in 10:19.73. Van Buren County also won the 4×400 relay with Kayden Simmons, Gavin Noll, Jaren Troxel, and Lincoln Bainbridge in 3:30.40, edging Pekin’s second-place 3:30.58 in a very tight race, and the 800-meter sprint medley with Aiden Cooper, Jace Duncan, Lincoln Bainbridge, and Jaren Troxel in 1:39.42.
Jaren Troxel placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in 11.97 and second in the 200-meter dash in 24.37. Loeffler placed seventh in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.32. Kaimrin Ellingson placed 16th in the 100-meter dash in 13.03 and Parker Boley 17th in 13.24.
Gavin Noll placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:13.47 and Kayden Farris eighth in 2:27.17. Sawyer Spiker placed seventh in the 1,600 in 5:43.66 and sixth in the 3,200 in 12:27.63.
Jace Duncan placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.41. Camden Wells placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.93 and Parker Boley eighth in 19.34.
The 4×100 team of Kavin Carter, Aiden Cooper, Camden Wells, and Thomas Roberts placed fifth in 49.53. The 4×200 team of Jackson Meek, Joni Yoder, Jayce Simmons, and Thomas Roberts placed fifth in 1:45.56. The 4×800 team of Thomas Roberts, Jackson Meek, Carver Goehring, and Kayden Farris placed fourth in 9:30.36. The distance medley team of Kavin Carter, Aiden Cooper, Jace Duncan, and Gavin Noll placed second in 3:54.60 behind Pekin’s winning time of 3:53.36. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Camden Wells, Marion Yoder, Jaydan Pilcher, and Jayce Simmons placed third in 1:13.67.
Kayden Simmons placed fourth in the high jump clearing 5-08 behind winner Connor Deal of Lynnville-Sully at 6-02. Jace Duncan placed 10th in the long jump at 16-05 and Joni Yoder 12th at 15-04. Kaden Miller placed ninth in the shot put at 33-06 and Ryder Simmons 10th at 32-03. Simmons placed 11th in the discus at 89-02 and Jackson Meek 12th at 82-03.
Pekin Results
Nolan Glick won the 100-meter dash in 11.31. William Daniels won the 800-meter run in 2:11.04. Pekin won the 4×200 relay with Aliyas Brock, Riley Smith, Nolan Glick, and Alijah Brock in 1:31.86, the 4×800 relay with Mason Dahlstrom, Cole Millikin, Brody Sobaski, and Lane Fariss in 8:48.49, and the distance medley with Riley Smith, Nolan Glick, Mason Dahlstrom, and Lane Fariss in 3:53.36.
Aliyas Brock placed fifth in the 100-meter dash in 12.04 and Henry Adam 13th in 12.93. Alijah Brock placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 25.72. Cael Silvers placed second in the 400-meter dash in 56.47 and Cody Silvers sixth in 59.78.
Cody Silvers placed third in the 800-meter run in 2:14.63. Cole Millikin placed third in the 1,600-meter run in 5:02.32 and Garett Greiner fourth in 5:53.00. Greiner also placed fourth in the 3,200 in 12:16.56.
Keegan Dickey placed ninth in the 110-meter hurdles in 20.03 and Jaxon Mefford 11th in 21.04. Cody Silvers placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.44.
The 4×100 team of Henry Adam, Mason Dahlstrom, Henry Eubanks, and Lane Fariss placed fourth in 49.21. The 4×400 team placed a close second in 3:30.58, just behind Van Buren County’s winning 3:30.40. The 800-meter sprint medley team of Henry Adam, Henry Eubanks, Cole Millikin, and Cody Silvers placed fourth in 1:44.62. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Ryann Hammes, Jaxon Mefford, Ethan Porter, and Keegan Dickey placed fifth in 1:21.37.
Brody Sobaski placed fifth in the high jump clearing 5-04 and Jaxon Mefford sixth at 5-02. Henry Adam placed seventh in the long jump at 16-11.50, Keegan Dickey seventh at 16-06, and Ethan Porter 14th at 13-11.50. Cal Miller placed eighth in the shot put at 33-07 and Cowen Weaver 11th at 31-04. Johnathan Delaney placed seventh in the discus at 106-09 and Weaver 13th at 82-00.
Pekin head coach Davis Eidahl was pleased with the overall performance of his team. “Great meet,” Eidahl said. “Ran JV and varsity events. All our kids competed hard. What I liked was the improvement our young runners showed. We experimented with different combinations. We all learned a lot from tonight. Our highlights were the 4×800 with Mason Dahlstrom, Lane Fariss, Brody Sobaski, and Cole Millikin; the 4×200 with Nolan Glick, Riley Smith, Aliyas Brock, and Alijah Brock — the same four who ran in our 4×400; and the distance medley with Nolan Glick, Riley Smith, Mason Dahlstrom, and Lane Fariss.”
Keota Results
Keota did not claim any event victories but had several strong individual performances.
Brycen Horras placed 12th in the 100-meter dash in 12.93, Chase Haifley 13th in 12.93, and Dacin Redlinger 15th in 13.00. Rowen Horning placed ninth in the 200-meter dash in 26.61, Dacin Redlinger 11th in 27.35, and Chase Haifley 14th in 28.37. Rowen Horning placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 57.44 and Hunter Grandstaff 12th in 1:05.51.
Luke Moeller placed 10th in the 800-meter run in 2:32.04 and Hunter Grandstaff 13th in 2:44.58. Grandstaff placed sixth in the 1,600 in 5:43.59 and fifth in the 3,200 in 12:26.49.
Ayden Galindo had a strong meet in the field events, placing third in the high jump clearing 5-10, second in the long jump at 18-00, and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.61. Luke Moeller placed 15th in the long jump at 13-05.50.
The 4×100 team of Chase Haifley, Brycen Horras, Dacin Redlinger, and Rowen Horning placed sixth in 52.10. The 4×200 team of Chase Haifley, Dacin Redlinger, Luke Moeller, and Rowen Horning placed sixth in 1:49.41. The 800-meter sprint medley team of Chase Haifley, Brycen Horras, Ayden Galindo, and Luke Moeller placed fifth in 1:45.57.
Other Highlights
Several junior varsity athletes had strong showings throughout the meet. Kaimrin Ellingson of Van Buren County won the 200-meter dash and Sawyer Spiker won the 400-meter dash. Van Buren County’s 4×400 relay team of Carver Goehring, Joni Yoder, Jackson Meek, and Kayden Farris also won their event. For Pekin, Hunter Chapman, Asaa McCabe, Samuel Loper, and William Daniels won the distance medley, and Johnathan Delaney won the shot put.
Cardinal’s Blake Lamansky also had a stellar evening winning the shot put with a distance of 43-11.50 and the discus with a throw of 131-00.
