The Van Buren County girls and boys track and field teams traveled to Louisa-Muscatine Thursday, April 23rd for the Gardner-Wilson Co-Ed Relays, a meet featuring all Southeast Iowa Superconference programs. The girls finished second in a seven-team field and the boys placed third without Lincoln Bainbridge as he prepares for the Drake Relays.
Team Standings
Louisa-Muscatine won the girls title with 154 points, followed by Van Buren County with 129, West Burlington with 101, Columbus with 95.5, Central Lee with 74.5, Hillcrest Academy with 49, and Wapello with 12.
Columbus claimed the boys title with 185 points, followed by Louisa-Muscatine with 106, Van Buren County with 99, West Burlington with 68, Central Lee with 64, Wapello with 45, and Hillcrest Academy with 18.
Van Buren County Girls Results
Van Buren County had a strong night in the relays and distance events. The 4×100 squad of Emma Coffin, Aida Troutman, Daphny Wells, and Ava Loeffler won in 53.30, ahead of Louisa-Muscatine’s 56.81. The 4×200 group of Emma Coffin, Aida Troutman, Aubrey Loeffler, and Ali Pedretti won in 1:54.90, edging West Burlington’s 2:00.49. The sprint medley crew of Emma Coffin, Aida Troutman, Daphny Wells, and Ava Loeffler won in 2:01.79 ahead of Louisa-Muscatine’s 2:06.28. The 4×800 unit of Kayley Snowgren, Rylee Philips, Gabby Titus, and Rory Philips won in 10:57.22, well ahead of West Burlington’s second-place 11:48.08. Rylee Philips also won the 1,500-meter run individually in 5:22.86, edging Columbus’s Gabriela Duran by just under two seconds.
Adia Scott of Hillcrest Academy won the 100-meter dash in 13.86. Emma Coffin placed third for Van Buren County in 14.52 and Willow Worley 10th in 15.80. In the 200-meter dash, Scott won again in 28.56, with Daphny Wells placing fourth for Van Buren County in 30.23 and Worley ninth in 31.73. In the 400-meter dash, Ella Howell of Columbus won in 1:02.28, with Adalyn Snowgren placing third in 1:09.42, Gabby Titus fourth in 1:09.92, and Rylee Philips sixth in 1:12.53.
Aubrey Loeffler placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.71, just behind winner Ella Howell of Columbus at 1:10.41, with Rory Philips fifth in 1:23.10. Armoney Adams placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 20.14 behind winner Orayana Gonzalez of West Burlington at 18.41. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Ali Pedretti, Aubrey Loeffler, Willow Worley, and Armoney Adams placed second in 1:20.84 behind West Burlington’s winning 1:14.72.
Kayley Snowgren placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:30.71, just behind winner Hannah Ritter of West Burlington at 2:30.25, with Gabby Titus sixth in 2:42.17. Adalyn Snowgren placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:46.48 and sixth in the 3,000-meter run in 12:49.58 behind winner Fiona McGill of Louisa-Muscatine at 11:51.84. The distance medley team of Kayley Snowgren, Daphny Wells, Ava Loeffler, and Rory Philips placed third in 4:51.65 behind winner West Burlington at 4:37.76. The 4×400 team of Kayley Snowgren, Elli Daugherty, Rory Philips, and Ali Pedretti placed third in 4:42.37 behind winner West Burlington at 4:26.15.
Aubrey Loeffler placed sixth in the high jump clearing 4-06 behind winner Grace Hoopes of Louisa-Muscatine at 4-08. Aida Troutman placed fourth in the long jump at 14-09 behind winner Ella Howell of Columbus at 15-04. Briley Losey placed fifth in the shot put at 29-02, Elli Daugherty ninth at 27-01, and Willow Worley 10th at 24-00 behind winner Bella Forbes of Columbus at 35-08. In the discus, Losey placed eighth at 86-08, Lizzie Camp 12th at 75-07.50, and Sophia Scharf 13th at 74-06 behind winner Aubrey Weber of Central Lee at 106-10.
Van Buren County Boys Results
Jaren Troxel won the 400-meter dash in 53.64, edging Kendyn Lanz of Wapello by just 18 hundredths of a second. Jace Duncan won the 400-meter hurdles in 55.47, with Logan Hamma of West Burlington close behind in second at 57.19. Landry Loeffler won the 3,200-meter run in 11:04.38 with Gavin Noll close behind in second at 11:44.73. Noll also won the 1,600-meter run in 5:03.47, edging Kevin Villa of Columbus by less than a second. The sprint medley group of Kavin Carter, Aiden Cooper, Jaren Troxel, and Jace Duncan won in 1:42.32, just ahead of Wapello’s 1:43.08.
Lamar Ceant of Columbus won the 100-meter dash in 11.53. Jace Duncan placed fifth for Van Buren County in 12.55, Jackson Meek 13th in 13.70, Andy Durflinger 19th in 14.70, and Braxton Headley 21st in 17.58. In the 200-meter dash, Domonic Garcia of Columbus won in 23.78, with Troxel placing fourth in 24.19 and Meek 14th in 26.80. Kayden Farris placed 15th in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.74.
Parker Boley placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.60 and Marion Yoder fifth in 19.47 behind winner Lamar Ceant of Columbus at 16.28. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Parker Boley, Jaydan Pilcher, Marion Yoder, and Jayce Simmons placed third in 1:14.22 behind winner Columbus at 1:09.34.
Landry Loeffler placed fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:12.51 and Thomas Roberts eighth in 2:17.51 behind winner Ayden Martinez of Louisa-Muscatine at 2:08.53. Kayden Farris placed ninth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:31.35 and Sawyer Spiker 11th in 5:40.11. In the 3,200-meter run, Kayden Farris placed seventh in 12:20.45 and Spiker eighth in 12:20.98 behind Loeffler’s winning time. The distance medley team of Kaimrin Ellingson, Gavin Noll, Aiden Cooper, and Thomas Roberts placed second in 4:04.00 behind winner West Burlington at 3:54.70.
The 4×100 team of Jayce Simmons, Joni Yoder, Marion Yoder, and Kavin Carter placed sixth in 51.13 behind winner Columbus at 45.94. The 4×200 team of Kavin Carter, Lyrick Krouse, Joni Yoder, and Jayce Simmons placed fifth in 1:49.03 behind winner Columbus at 1:35.49.
Fritz Figaro of Columbus dominated the throwing events, winning both the shot put at 44-05 and the discus at 132-05. Kaden Miller placed eighth in the shot put at 36-02, Ryder Simmons 15th at 29-02, and Cooper Philp 16th at 27-03. Jackson Meek placed seventh in the discus at 105-11.50, Simmons 10th at 98-01, and Philp 15th at 74-10. Joni Yoder placed 10th in the long jump at 16-07 behind winner Lamar Ceant of Columbus at 20-04.
