Two state-licensed mental health professionals are facing disciplinary actions tied to allegations of having sex with former clients.

The two cases, which are unrelated to each other, involve Katie Little, a mental health counselor who has practiced in Grinnell, and Jaci Rolffs, who has practiced psychology in Iowa City.

In Little’s case, the Iowa Board of Behavioral Health Professionals has charged her with having a prohibited sexual relationship with a former client, and with failing to create, safeguard, and maintain adequate documentation necessary for rendering professional services.

The board has not publicly disclosed the alleged actions that gave rise to either of the charges against Little. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for June 25, 2026.

In Rolffs’ case, the Board of Behavioral Health Professionals has charged her with violating a state regulation that prohibits a psychologist from engaging in sexual relations with a former client for at least two years after therapy has ended.

The board alleges that in May 2024, Rolffs self-reported engaging in a “single intimate interaction” with a former client in 2023.

To resolve the case, the board and Rolffs recently agreed to a settlement that requires her to complete an educational course on professional boundaries. The board has also placed her Iowa psychologist’s license on probation for 18 months.
