Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s annual Stateline Dairy and Ag Outlook Seminar will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at Empty Nest Winery, 1352 Apple Road, Waukon. The seminar aims to assist agricultural lenders and farm financial advisers in helping farmers manage risk and understand market outlooks.
“By combining livestock market outlooks with practical farm transition strategies, this seminar helps producers plan not just for next year, but for the next generation,” said Jennifer Bentley, dairy field specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach. “Understanding the ag markets and strategies to allow the next generation to continue farming is a necessary part of lender portfolio management.”
Seminar topics are:
- Your Estate Planning Toolbox: Joseph Lensing, farm management specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach
- Share Milking, Leasing and Beyond: Dairy Farm Entry, Transition and Alternative Strategies: Larry Tranel, dairy field specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach
- Farm Transition Interactive Discussion: Jennifer Bentley, dairy field specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach
- Livestock Outlook: Brenda Boetel, extension ag marketing specialist, University of Wisconsin-River Falls
- Mapping the 2026 State of the Dairy Industry: Karen Bohnert, dairy editorial director, Farm Journal Magazine
Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m., with the program running from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Pre-registration is required by June 3. The cost to attend is $100 for agricultural lenders and service providers and $25for dairy and agricultural producers and students. Agricultural lenders and financial advisers are encouraged to invite and support their producers to attend the seminar. Details and a full agenda can be accessed on the Dairy Team website.
