Four area programs — Pekin, Van Buren County, Sigourney, and Keota — traveled to Sigourney Tuesday, April 28th for the Sigourney Relays, with Pekin’s girls edging out WACO by just two points to claim the team title in a competitive 14-team field.
Girls Team Standings
Pekin won the team title with 76 points, followed by WACO with 74, Lynnville-Sully with 71.33, Highland with 63.33, Albia with 46, HLV with 42.33, Hillcrest Academy and Van Buren County tied with 40, Sigourney with 37, Columbus with 34, Cardinal with 22, English Valleys with 20, Keota with 13, and Winfield-Mt. Union with 10.
Pekin Girls
Pekin won the girls team title at the Sigourney Relays, with Anna Hadley and Paislee Coleman each capturing two event victories to lead the way in a narrow two-point win over WACO.
Hadley was dominant in the throwing events, winning both the shot put and the discus. Fresh off a third-place finish in the discus and fourth-place finish in the shot put at the Drake Relays last week, Hadley continued her strong stretch of throwing. Her shot put throw of 45-04 set a new track and meet record at Sigourney, besting runner-up Bella Forbes of Columbus by more than eight feet. Her discus mark of 135-01 won the event comfortably, with Raelene Hawkins of HLV placing second at 103-02 — more than 31 feet back. Notably, Hadley came within six inches of her Sigourney Relays record in the discus, which she set back in 2024 with a throw of 135-07. In the shot put, Kendra Schultz placed fifth at 32-05 and Taylor Moore sixth at 32-04.50. In the discus, Moore placed sixth at 94-00 and Schultz 16th at 73-02.
Paislee Coleman won two events, winning the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 16.43, and anchored the shuttle hurdle relay team with Reece Brisby, Abby Guise, and Carlie Gambell to a first-place finish in 1:10.95. Chloe Glosser, coming off two top-five finishes at the Drake Relays from last week, won the 3,000-meter run in 11:13.16.
In the sprints, Addison Smith placed 11th in the 100-meter dash in 13.78 and Autumn Coleman 24th in 15.40. In the 200-meter dash, Breanna Drish placed 16th in 31.50. In the 400-meter dash, Callie Deutschle placed 12th in 1:15.12 and Zoe Heisdorffer 20th in 1:22.30. Heisdorffer also placed 19th in the 800-meter run in 3:18.84.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Abby Guise placed fourth in 1:18.02 and Carlie Gambell fifth in 1:20.00. Glosser also placed 20th in the 800-meter run in 3:23.98. In the 1,500-meter run, Deutschle placed 13th in 6:19.01 and Harper Guise 14th in 6:25.50.
The distance medley squad of Mya Glick, Fynlie Brooks, Maddy Petrehn, and Chloe Glosser claimed runner-up honors in 4:34.47, as did the throwers relay group of Taylor Moore, Kendra Schultz, Zoe Heisdorffer, and Autumn Coleman, who crossed in 1:02.63. The 4×800 unit of Maddy Petrehn, Deutschle, Harper Guise, and Emerson Porter was fifth in 11:35.47. The 4×200 crew of Abby Guise, Emerson Porter, Fynlie Brooks, and Brin Lauderman came in sixth at 2:03.98, and the 4×100 foursome of Addison Smith, Abby Guise, Brin Lauderman, and Paislee Coleman placed seventh in 55.54. The sprint medley team of Addison Smith, Breanna Drish, Autumn Coleman, and Mya Glick finished 12th in 2:11.63.
Paislee Coleman placed third in the high jump clearing 5-00, and Brin Lauderman tied for seventh clearing 4-10. Mya Glick placed eighth in the long jump at 13-09.
Head coach Davis Eidahl was pleased with the team’s overall output. “We won five events and had eight PRs. Little by little we are improving. Paislee Coleman and Anna Hadley each won two events,” he said.
Van Buren County Girls
The Van Buren County Warriors finished tied for seventh in the girls team standings alongside Hillcrest Academy.
Though it did not count toward the team’s point total, the throwers relay group of Willow Worley, Lizzie Camp, Elli Daugherty, and Briley Losey claimed an event victory, crossing first in 1:01.17.
Emma Coffin placed eighth in the 100-meter dash in 13.47 and Grace Richards 22nd in 15.11. Daphny Wells placed seventh in the 200-meter dash in 29.00. Adalyn Snowgren placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:09.45 and Gabby Titus sixth in 1:10.36.
Kayley Snowgren placed fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:32.96 and Titus sixth in 2:47.74. Rory Philips placed eighth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:37.86 and Rylee Philips 11th in 5:56.28. Adalyn Snowgren also placed eighth in the 3,000-meter run in 13:13.50.
Armoney Adams placed 11th in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.42 and Willow Worley 18th in 21.27. Aubrey Loeffler placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:12.44. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Ali Pedretti, Aubrey Loeffler, Willow Worley, and Armoney Adams placed fourth in 1:21.39.
The 4×200 team of Emma Coffin, Aida Troutman, Aubrey Loeffler, and Ali Pedretti placed fourth in 1:54.60. The 4×400 team of Adalyn Snowgren, Kayley Snowgren, Ali Pedretti, and Rory Philips and the 4×800 unit of Rylee Philips, Kayley Snowgren, Gabby Titus, and Rory Philips both placed fourth, crossing in 4:37.24 and 11:04.31 respectively. The distance medley team of Ava Loeffler, Daphny Wells, Rory Philips, and Kayley Snowgren placed fifth in 4:45.44. The sprint medley and 4×100 relay teams were both disqualified.
Aubrey Loeffler cleared a personal record 4-10 in the high jump to place seventh and Aida Troutman placed third in the long jump at 14-09.50, with Ali Pedretti seventh at 13-10. In the discus, Briley Losey placed 10th at 84-02, Sophia Scharf 20th at 67-01, and Lizzie Camp 21st at 66-09. In the shot put, Briley Losey placed eighth at 30-10, Alex Shields 14th at 28-05.50, and Elli Daugherty tied for 17th at 27-04.
Head coach Lucinda DeHart acknowledged it was not the team’s best showing. “It wasn’t our best night overall. We had some setbacks, including disqualifications in the sprint medley and 4×100, and we just didn’t compete with the focus and consistency we’re capable of,” DeHart said. She did point to bright spots, however. “Aubrey Loeffler had a great performance with a PR in the high jump at 4’10”, and Aida Troutman placed third in the long jump.” DeHart also noted the meet had extra significance given the venue. “It was also valuable for our girls to see strong competition, especially since this is the site of our state qualifying meet. At this point in the season, we need to learn from nights like this. We need to do a better job of locking in mentally and bringing a more positive, competitive mindset. We know what we’re capable of, and we’ll continue working to get there as a team.”
Sigourney Girls
Sigourney placed ninth in the girls team standings, with Addison Yates providing the team’s brightest individual moment by doubling up in the distance events — including a school record in the 3,000-meter run.
Bella deOliveira placed seventh in the 100-meter dash in 13.40 and Carmalita Cave 14th in 14.35, and deOliveira also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 28.60 and Kia Montgomery eighth in 29.04. Amelia Phillips placed 10th in the 400-meter dash in 1:12.58 and Ella Bahlmann 14th in 1:17.16.
Cloee Wilson placed 16th in the 800-meter run in 3:08.70 and Bahlmann 17th in 3:12.47. Yates placed second in the 3,000-meter run in 11:24.21 and third in the 1,500-meter run in 5:26.56. Her 3,000-meter time broke the school record, which had previously been held by her sister Ellie.
Jasey Ingle placed 13th in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.53 and Abby Davis 17th in 20.72. Brynn Clarahan placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:16.38 and Phillips eighth in 1:30.21. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Jasey Ingle, Kinsley Clubb, Kia Montgomery, and Abby Davis placed third in 1:19.97.
The sprint medley team of Carmalita Cave, Bella de Oliveira, Kia Montgomery, and Brynn Clarahan placed third in 2:01.04. The 4×100 team of Carmalita Cave, Bella de Oliveira, Jasey Ingle, and Kia Montgomery and the 4×800 unit of Cloee Wilson, Ella Bahlmann, Brynn Clarahan, and Amelia Phillips both placed sixth, crossing in 55.19 and 12:37.53 respectively. The distance medley team of Abyl McCulley, Kiley Cavin, Izzy Heisdorffer, and Addison Yates also placed sixth in 4:55.06. The 4×400 team of Kinsley Clubb, Izzy Heisdorffer, Amelia Phillips, and Brynn Clarahan placed seventh in 4:51.00. The 4×200 team of Kiley Cavin, Emerie McCulley, Kinsley Clubb, and Abyl McCulley placed 12th in 2:14.19. The throwers relay team of Cora Bernhardt, Collyns O’Rourke, Madison Clarahan, and Emerie McCulley placed ninth in 1:14.93.
Emerie McCulley placed 17th in the discus at 72-03, Ashtyn Tish 22nd at 63-01, and Madison Clarahan 25th at 60-00. Collyns O’Rourke placed 12th in the shot put at 28-10 and Izzy Heisdorffer tied for 17th at 27-04.
Keota Girls
Keota placed 13th in the girls team standings, with the sprint medley relay team’s second-place finish serving as the program’s highlight of the evening.
Zoey Sieren placed 10th in the 100-meter dash in 13.77 and Levin Sheetz 26th in 15.81. Olivia Lyle placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 28.61 and Emily Moeller 17th in 31.56. Elyse Lyle placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:07.86 and Calli McCoid 21st in 1:25.19. Mia Conrad placed 22nd in the 800-meter run in 3:29.55.
The sprint medley team of Kaylee Kindred, Zoey Sieren, Jaylah Redlinger, and Olivia Lyle placed second in 2:00.49. The distance medley team of Karley Greiner, Jaylah Redlinger, Emily Moeller, and Dakota Dodd placed 10th in 5:32.23. The 4×200 relay was disqualified.
Kennedy Jackson placed eighth in the discus at 86-06 and Karley Greiner 12th at 83-06. In the shot put, Greiner placed 13th at 28-07, Jackson 15th at 27-10.50, and Elyse Lyle 20th at 27-00. Elyse Lyle and Dakota Dodd tied for 11th in the long jump at 13-04.
Head coach Dan Stout said the athletes competed hard given the conditions. “Our girls sprint medley ran a good race. Kids competed hard for the weather conditions. Hopefully we get better weather on Thursday and Friday,” Stout said.

Rya Scott of Hillcrest Academy won the 100-meter dash in 12.69. Tatum Huyser of Lynnville-Sully won the 200-meter dash in 26.51, setting a new track and meet record. Emery Hall of HLV won the 400-meter dash in 1:01.16. McKenna Montgomery of Albia won the 800-meter run in 2:20.47, setting a new meet record, with Hall second in 2:21.43 — also breaking the previous record. Leilani DeForest of Albia won the 1,500-meter run in 5:19.52. Ella Howell of Columbus won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:10.93. WACO won the 4×800 relay in 9:59.24, setting a new track and meet record, the distance medley in 4:27.81, and the 4×400 in 4:19.89. Highland won the 4×200 relay in 1:50.55, setting a new meet record, with Hillcrest Academy second in 1:50.60 — also breaking the previous record. Lynnville-Sully won the 4×100 relay in 51.61, setting a new meet record, and the sprint medley in 1:56.41. Quin Smith of Winfield-Mt. Union won the high jump with a clearance of 5-02, setting a new meet record. Alexa Hahn of Highland won the long jump at 16-07.
