A familiar community fundraiser is returning this weekend as Many Hands hosts its Hotcakes for Haiti breakfast at Third Church in Pella on Sunday morning. The event will run from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will rely on free-will donations from those attending.
This year’s goal is to raise $20,000 to support the organization’s First 1,000 Days program, which works to combat childhood malnutrition in Haiti.
CEO Tim Brand says the focus of the program is on starting earlier—working with mothers before and after birth to provide the care and resources needed for healthy development. By addressing needs from the beginning, the organization aims to prevent many of the struggles children might otherwise face later in school.
Proceeds from the breakfast will help continue and expand that work.
