The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, has announced the temporary closure of the Lake Red Rock Visitor Center as construction begins on a new visitor center and administration facility.
The closure will take effect on Wednesday, April 22, and the current visitor center will remain closed to the public until further notice while work is underway.
Officials say visitors can still purchase passes during the closure. America the Beautiful passes, along with annual USACE day-use passes, will be available at the Whitebreast and Howell Station fee booths beginning Wednesday, April 29. Passes will be sold daily during designated hours from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and again from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The construction project is part of ongoing efforts to improve visitor services and modernize facilities at Lake Red Rock.
For additional details, the public is encouraged to contact the Lake Red Rock administration office at (641) 828-7522.
