Jefferson County Farm Bureau is inviting children across the county to participate in its second annual coloring contest in celebration of National Garden Month throughout April. National Garden Month highlights the importance of gardening and agriculture, with National Gardening Day recognized on April 14th. The contest is designed to encourage creativity while helping children learn more about agriculture.

The contest is open to youth living in Jefferson County and is divided into three age categories: Pre-K through Kindergarten, 1st through 2nd grade, and 3rd through 4th grade. Last year’s contest drew approximately 380 submissions, and the organization hopes to exceed that number in 2026.

Each age division will have two winners — a first place and a second place — for a total of six winners overall. Prizes will include a Farm Bureau bag filled with crayons, farming-themed board games, and an age-appropriate agriculture or farming book.

Coloring pages are available for pickup at the Jefferson County Farm Bureau office at 304 S. 20th St. in Fairfield, can be downloaded from the Jefferson County Farm Bureau Facebook page, or requested by emailing Jefferson.county@ifbf.org. Participants are asked to fill out the information on the back of the coloring page, including the child’s name and grade, the parent or guardian’s name and phone number, and the teacher’s name if applicable. Only one entry per child is permitted.

Completed pages must be submitted by 5 p.m. on April 30th. Entries may be dropped off at the Jefferson County Farm Bureau office or scanned and emailed to Jefferson.county@ifbf.org.
